Join us for our Fall Prayer and Fasting. We want to stand in unity and cover our church body, students and the city of Carbondale by having a designated week of intentionally seeking the Kingdom of Jesus through prayer & fasting.
Some Tips for your Fasting:
Drink plenty of water.
Take the extra time that you would be eating to commune with God as you read His Word and pray.
If you experience headaches, it is a sign that your body is detoxing certain elements- they will pass and you will begin to feel more energetic and clear-minded.
The devil and your flesh will try to tempt you to break the fast before the committed time. Be accountable. Call a friend for prayer and encouragement to stay the course.
It is wise to abstain from strong stimulants such as caffeinated and sugary drinks during a fast.
Minors (under 13 years old) who desire to fast are encouraged to consider non-food abstentions, such as TV, movies, Internet surfing, video games and other entertainment.
We recommend that older children who choose to fast from food do so under their parents’ supervision.
Break your fast gradually, on a meal that is light and easy to digest (i.e., grapes, a shredded apple, watermelon, or steamed vegetables).
Get a good night’s rest. Take power naps when needed.
Don’t make a big deal before others. (Matt. 6:16)
Abstain from rigorous physical activities.
Don’t watch the food network.
