A home away from home …

Making Disciples for Jesus Among the Nations

When Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship became an SIU registered student organization in 1976, our students began praying about starting a student church. At that time, Chi Alpha consisted of a few Americans and many International students, mainly from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

On February 28, 1988, with the support of the First Assembly of God Church in Carbondale, the Chi Alpha students’ vision to plant a student church became a reality and Calvary Campus Church was established.

Today, Calvary Campus Church is an International & American ministry that focuses on worship, prayer, discipleship, fellowship, evangelism, and missions. It came from the heart and vision of the Chi Alpha students at SIU.

Disciplemaking

Jesus came to win the world. He fed the thousands and ministered to the multitudes but picked only twelve to be His disciples. He saw the masses through the man. He did not come to merely make disciples but to raise up disciplemakers (Matthew 28:18-20).

Making disciples is the core of who we are. It is not a program, but a lifestyle committed to covenantal relationships with the goal to present everyone mature in Christ (Colossians 1:28).

Prayer & Worship Meetings

God’s Word exhorts us to “pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and “first of all…to pray…”  (1 Timothy 2:1).

God moves in response to prayer.  Therefore, we have daily prayer meetings to seek God corporately and ask for the Holy Spirit to lead us.

We invite you to join us in lifting up the nations, our cities, our families, and individual requests to the Lord together in prayer!

Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship

Chi Alpha is a national movement devoted to the building of a healthy Body of Christ on university campuses. Our Chi Alpha specifically focuses in Southern Illinois University (SIUC) and John A. Logan College (JALC) campuses. Our mission is to reconcile college students to Christ, equipping them through Spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and missions to transform the university, the marketplace, and the world.

“As you reach out to the nations, I will give you Americans with a heart for the nations.”

— God gave us this word, promise and calling as we founded Calvary Campus Church. We still live by it today.
